John Baxter

One of the co-founders of 'The Burke and Hare Murder Tour', John is the resident historian and Burke and Hare enthusiast, whose guiding experience dates back to 2001.  John has worked at a number of attractions as a tour guide including The Real Mary Kings Close, Sea.fari Adventures Forth (North Berwick) and Prestongrange Industrial Heritage Museum (Prestonpans).  

John has featured in several national and local newspapers as an expert on the subject of Burke and Hare.  He also featured prominently in the STV/History Channel documentary "In search of Burke and Hare" with Scottish actor, David Hayman.

Stuart Nicoll

The second of the co-founders, Stuart Nicoll is a local actor, storyteller and director who is responsible for the quality and presentation of 'The Burke and Hare Murder Tour'.  He graduated from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in 2005.  Stuart has a great passion for Edinburgh and Scottish history and is an enthusiast on the subject of Burke and Hare.

Stuart is also responsible for the performance arm of the business 'West Port Productions' which produced its first theatrical piece in November 2010.  'Burke', which tells the story of the last days of the the life of William Burke will once again be performed this year as part of a Scottish tour.  

Andrew Hainey

Andrew Hainey is a local actor and has been a tour guide with West Port Tours for nearly a year now.  Andrew has played William Burke on stage in West Port Productions/Siege Perilous production of 'Burke' which was directed by WPT's Stuart Nicoll.  He will reprise the role later this year in a Scottish tour of the play as it visits historic jails across the country.  Andrew has also played lead parts in plays such as Hamlet, the Merchant of Venice and King Arthur and appreared in numerous commercials and BBC programmes such as River City.

Andrew has a great love for the city of Edinburgh and it's surrounding history and particularly for the story of Burke and Hare.  He believes that many parts of the story are shrouded in mystery which first attracted him to the story and he will delight in revealing this to you on the tour!
